Repeat note exchanger had his face painted with ink by bank employee; Kejriwal offers Rs 1 crore compensation

Munish Gupta, a repeat note exchanger from Karol-Bagh area got shock of a lifetime after a bank employee painted his face with indelible ink.

“Trust me, I have seen this guy many a times standing in the line,” explained Sujit Singh, the bank employee, “We even marked his right hand finger with the ink this morning as per the new rule. That didn’t stop him coming back for another exchange the same day.”

It is no secret that bank counters and ATMs are getting overcrowded due to same people turning up again and again to exchange old notes. To prevent this, a small mark of indelible ink is now applied on the right hand finger of those exchanging banned 500 and 1,000 rupee notes for new ones.

“Mr. Gupta frantically tried to clean up his face with the 500 and 1,000 rupee notes he had in his hands, but had no luck. Indelible ink puts a permanent mark and can not easily be removed,” Sujit Singh said, grinning.

Meanwhile, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal announces Rs 1 crore compensation to the victim Munish Gupta. “I can only hope to get the new notes as the compensation. Rupee 500 or 1000 would be tragic,” clearly Mr. Gupta has mixed feelings about this. On the brighter side, Mr. Gupta agreed to have a picture taken by DelhiPress team with the new 2000 rupee in his hands.

The bank employee, Mr. Singh defended his action, “Government should consider making face painting a law. Second time offenders should have their face painted with indelible ink. These guys keep too much black money with no intention to pay any taxes. This will expose their real face to the society. I think it is a brilliant idea with full of metaphors.”

Agree or not, Mr. Singh has a point, but it remains to be seen if government can afford to buy insane amount of indelible ink for this purpose.
