Man claims to successfully read a TOI news article without getting distracted by popup ads; TOI launches investigation

Early this morning, a man from Seelampur area claimed that he was able to successfully read a full news article on Time Of India website without getting hammered by pop up ads, which is absolutely unheard-of. Needless to say, DelhiPress correspondent rushed to the scene in an off-duty vehicle and quickly spotted the person of interest, who was then surrounded by many friends, family members and a few random well-wishers.

Sanjeev Desai, who also claims to own a mobile repair shop, couldn’t contain his excitement, “I always thought it was impossible to read anything on Times Of India website other than the advertisements. But today, what I experienced was way bigger than magic — a life changing event,” Mr. Desai continued, “Try visiting Times Of India, you would be greeted with a full page advertisement right on your face – literally!”

“If you are lucky enough to make it to the homepage, most of the news headlines would be covered by popup ads, then there would be some video ads, ads floating from the left, ads floating from the right. Some of the news content — first you see them, then you don’t! With all that happening, visiting TOI can cause a motion sickness feeling,” Mr. Desai was seen frustrated as he relieved his experience, “I was never able to click on a news link and read anything at all. I would always click on advertisements and end up buying more than I ever needed. Thanks to the TOI ads, I invested in real estate and lost a lot of money, traveled to a few exotic destinations and they were not cheap.”

Times Of India was quick to react. Inside sources say that they have formed an independent body to investigate people viewing actual content complaints.

“We want to address the root of the problem. We might have to add more popups and sliders. Users must not see actual content, we will take no options off the table to achieve that goal,” Rajat Kumar explains the next steps while parking his TVS scooter right outside TOI building. We suspect he does not even work at Times Of India.

Learn the tricks to escape the pop-up ad trap, one day you might be able to read an article or two.
