In an unprecedented move, president-elect Trump has announced today that all “Buy One Get One” sales will be banned indefinitely under his administration.
“Buy One Get One, also known as BOGO, has always been fraudulent, rigged, and clearly deceptive,” Justin L. Barnum, a senior economic adviser to Donald Trump said, “BOGO offers have milked buyers for way too long and it’s time that we act. Let’s ban BOGO!”
It’s a fact that “Buy One Get One” offers have often confused buyers. The decades-long BOGO sales have had a clear, negative impact on the U.S. economy, someone said this on the internet without providing evidence of any kind.
“The amount of stuff we own these days is staggering, BOGO is one of the reasons. People buy stuff they clearly don’t need,” Mr. Barnum added, “BOGO forces buyers to learn basic math skills – totally unacceptable! Why can’t we simply do 50% off instead?” he asked a valid question.
To add to the confusion, BOGO offers come in different forms and sizes. It could simply mean Buy one, get one half price, or Buy one product from category A and get another product from category B free, or Buy two, get one half price… the list goes on!
If you get a chance, try shopping at Jos. A. Bank, where they usually offer Buy 1 Get 7 Free! Ask yourself, do you really need 8 suits at once?
If anything has been made clear by the results of this election, it is that the people have difficulty making ANY decision. Banning BOGO would be the first step towards making America great again!
